LICHFIELD’S business community is set to benefit from a new £2million co-working and office development.

Shire House, based on the Birmingham Road, will officially open in February.

The building was brought back to life after sitting empty for a number of years as part of project by Egon Hansen Architects and Fothergills Construction.

The new facility features nine offices of varying sizes catering for teams as small as two and as large as 40. There are also a number of meeting rooms.

Amanda Watson, operations director at Shire House, said:

“Shire House isn’t just a workspace, it’s a space designed for the way we work today and tomorrow.

“From its sustainability credentials to its cutting-edge technology and amenities, this is a building that puts people first while setting new standards for environmental performance.”

The accessible site also features shower facilities for active commuters and an on-site barista.

Amanda added:

“Shire House is more than just a building, it’s a statement of Lichfield’s ambition.

“By bringing together sustainability, innovation, and a strong sense of community, we’re creating a space that redefines how people work and connect in our city.”

Architect Egon Hansen said:

“This is a very proud moment for me and my team. Shire House reflects our dedication to sustainable office design with a keen eye for detail.

“It combines the re-use of an existing unloved building with modern innovation and forward-thinking functionality to create a vibrant workplace that will enrich the local landscape for generations to come.”

Jamie Whitfield, director of Fothergills Construction, said:

“Shire House stands as a proud testament to the exceptional dedication, skill, and hard work of our team, transforming the building from a forgotten and derelict site and transforming it into a visionary new build project.”
