VOLUNTEERS have created more than 250 meals to help families facing hardship in Lichfield this Christmas.

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church created the holiday food boxes for the Lichfield Family Hub.

Each contains non-perishable goods along with festive items such as Christmas pudding, custard and candy canes.

Andy Thomas, local Team Leader for the Rapid Relief Team UK, said:

“It was excellent to be able to deliver food boxes for families in need across Lichfield.

“The festive period can be a challenging time for many and this year has been no exception with a rise in the cost of living continuing to place added pressure on many families.

“Our food boxes, which were curated by our local volunteers in the area, provide non-perishable goods and special treats which we hope will make all the difference to those struggling to afford food during the holiday season.

“This donation is also a fitting way to close off our charity’s work in the region for 2024 and we are delighted by what our volunteers have achieved alongside our partners.

“As a voluntary team, we have been pleased to work together with countless inspirational people at emergency services, charities, and other organisations who share our passion for delivering meaningful and impactful support to our local communities.

“We look forward to building on this in 2025.”

Speaking on the donation, a representative at Lichfield Family Hub said:

“Thank you all so much for the donations, it’s had a huge impact on our families and the community over the festive period, so thank you very much.”
