THE head of a local education trust has been given an OBE in the King’s New Year’s Honours.
Mike Donoghue, CEO of the John Taylor Multi Academy Trust, received the honour for services to education.
He formed the trust in 2014 while working as headteacher at John Taylor High School, and has previously worked at a number of secondary schools in Swindon, Staffordshire and Walsall.
Mike said:
“It is with an overwhelming sense of pride that I receive this great honour, but also with an equally profound debt of gratitude that I owe to all those who have supported me – both professionally and personally – in my endeavours that are recognised in this award.
“It is their enthusiasm and talent, together with their patience and kindness, that have been of immense and constant value.
“I have been truly fortunate to live and work alongside innumerable amazing individuals and within wonderful communities. This is the perfect opportunity to thank them all.”
did you know that most head of trusts are on £100k plus? That part of every school budget goes directly to the trust and away from the school and therefore the students. Did you know that a trust can lose a school due to poor performance and the ceo still remain in place.
I wouldn’t have thought that “£100K plus” is a disproportionate remuneration for a CEO of a multi-academy educational trust, where professional staff are themselves in the £30k -£45k salary bracket..
20plus years ago I was involved with organisations where the oversight, legal and financial responsibilities were not dissimilar when even then the CEOs were remunerated in excess of £100k
In the salary brackets between 60,000 and 170,000 in 2023 there were 49 recipients. Along with job related additions.
