THE Liberal Democrats have unveiled their candidate for a by-election at Lichfield City Council.
The vote in the Stowe ward is expected to take place on 13th February following the resignation of Scott Hollingsworth.
Morag Maclean, a former nurse and NHS manager, will be the candidate for the Lib Dems.
The Lichfield resident said:
“My interest in politics is rooted in my lifelong desire to support individuals at times of need and to contribute to seeing my local community continue to thrive and be a place we can be proud to call home.”
Cllr Paul McDermott, Lib Dem group leader at the city council, said:
“We are excited to welcome Morag who brings so much experience to the role – and we hope that Stowe residents will recognise her abilities and her passion to help others in her community.”
Residents in the Stowe ward area can register for a postal vote until 29th January online, by emailing elections@lichfielddc.gov.uk or calling 01543 308125.
Lib Dem Stowe ward representative Cllr Hugh Ashton said:
“Postal voting will probably be the easiest way to vote for many people, especially if the weather is bad.
“Morag will bring new perspectives to the city council and I am looking forward to working with her as a councillor. “
