PLANS have been drawn up for a new children’s care home in Fradley.
The proposals include the conversion of a residential property to accommodatethree children aged eight to 18.
The Alexander Close proposals would see children cared for on a long-term basis, but it is possible some temporary placements could be used while foster placements are sourced.
The interior of the home would change with all bedrooms for the children located on the upper floor with the second reception room being converted into a staff office and sleeping area.
Under the proposals, there would be a minimum of two staff members would be on site at all times.
A planning statement says:
“There would be no external changes to the property and only minor alterations internally. The home would retain its look and character – that of a normal residential building.
“The use and associated activity, including the comings and goings of care workers, would unlikely cause a significant level of disturbance or amenity harm.
“It is considered that a non-harmful material change of use would occur at the site. The standard of accommodation and quality of environment for occupiers would not result in harm to the area’s visual amenity or residential amenity, nor the functioning of the local highways.”
