PLANS to convert space above a Lichfield city centre shop into residential apartments have been drawn up.
The upper level of 21-23 Bakers Lane is currently empty with the ground floor leased by Mountain Warehouse.
But prior approval has been granted for the first floor to be converted into five self-contained residential units.
A planning statement said:
“Mountain Warehouse only have a lease relating the ground floor of the unit, with no access to the first floor.
“The first floor is currently vacant, but in the past has been utilised as ancillary storage and office space associated with the ground floor commercial use. Poundland were the last known occupiers of the site to occupy part of the first floor as a stock room, however they left the site in 2018.
“The site benefits from three access points, with the primary retail access located to the front via Bakers Lane. Further access to the property is located on the western and northern elevations which appear to principally be used for commercial servicing.”
Full details of the plans can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
