A TALK in Lichfield will lift the lid on a woman who helped to transform the British printing industry.

Dr Jessica Glaser will deliver the latest Lunar Lecture at Erasmus Darwin House on 14th January.

A spokesperson said:

“For centuries, printing in Britain had been a male-dominated industry rooted in technology that had changed little since Gutenberg’s lifetime.

“In the early 1900s, Beatrice Warde invigorated the industry – and her ideas continue to resonate the in the 21st century.

“This talk introduces Beatrice, also known as the First Lady of Typography, giving an overview of her life, works and influence.”

Tickets for the lecture at 7pm are £10 and can be booked at erasmusdarwin.org.
