CHASETOWN suffered disappointment on the road as they went down 2-1 at Wythenshawe Town.
Mark Swann’s men found themselves two goals down before an Oli Hayward strike gave them hope, but they failed to find the leveller.
The hosts were in front in the opening minutes of the match when Chinedo Uche slipped the ball past Scholars stopper Curtis Pond.
Chasetown began to assert themselves on the game, with Kris Taylor’s free-kick flicked on by Joey Butlin but Joe Thompson was unable to get the crucial connection.
Thompson had another opportunity to level but his volley sailed just over the crossbar.
Wythenshawe doubled their lead in the second period when Uche’s effort again gave Pond no chance.
Chasetown fought their way back into the game when Hayward slotted home to spark hopes of a comeback.
But late chances for Butlin and Jack Langston failed to find the net as the Scholars were forced to return home empty handed.
