CHASETOWN Women maintained their grip on the top spot as they hit Milton United Ladies for six at the Scholars Ground.

Jo Sheerin’s side started brightly and were rewarded in the twelfth minute when Katie Holmes made a surging run into the box, skipped past the defender’s challenge, and slotted the ball home to give Chasetown the lead.

Kyrie Ball came close to doubling the advantage when her long-range effort cannoned off the underside of the bar. At the other end, Chasetown keeper Kaicee Griffin was called into action, making a fine save to deny Milton following a defensive lapse.

The league leaders continued to push forward and were rewarded in the 29th minute when Kaz Clough was played through and guided the ball into the back of the net. The lead was extended further minutes later when Chloe East-Goodman headed home from a corner kick.

The second half began in much the same manner as the first, with Clough, East-Goodman, and Tash Hughes all going close.

Chasetown grabbed a fourth when a teasing cross from Genevieve White was prodded home by Clough. Clough then completed her hat-trick after a chipped pass left her one-on-one with the keeper.

The rout was completed by Ella White, who found herself with time and space to finish coolly past the keeper.
