WORK to install a new pedestrian crossing in Lichfield is set to begin next month.

Staffordshire County Council is also carrying out resurfacing works as part of the project which starts on 3rd February.

The work will see a lane closed on Friary Road from Mary Slater Road and around the Bowling Green island itself.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-May.

What a waste of money when there is already a crossing in place. Compare this to the main junction in Lichfield that of St John Street/Upper St John Street and Birmingham Road where there is no pedestrian crossing and is used extensively especially by school children. You take your life into your hands when navigating crossing these roads.

Build more houses so theres more traffic, close roads, add more ways to slow traffic down, don’t fill potholes. Plenty of places to cross the road as traffic is always stood stil. Just walk 250 yards to the next temp light or cone.

Ermm. Why? When other roads need sorting. I e potholes on the road to Kings Bromley just after the junction to Armitage. Certainly need sorting…
