PREPARATIONS for the Lichfield Food Festival have been paused while an “urgent internal review” is carried out by Lichfield District Council.

It comes after organisers Cocker Hoop Creative Limited opted to cancel the Yorkshire Dales Food Festival which it also runs.

Lichfield District Council said it had instructed the business to pause sales of trader pitches for the Lichfield Food Festival in August while the review was carried out.

A spokesperson said:

“Lichfield District Council was deeply concerned by the news that Cocker Hoop Creative Limited cancelled the Yorkshire Dales Food Festival less than 14 days before the event and the impact this has had on traders and ticket holders.

“As such, we took the decision to undertake an urgent internal review to decide whether we allow events planned in Lichfield district by them to continue.

“We have requested that Cocker Hoop Creative provide us with detailed information by lunchtime Wednesday (9th July) and we have instructed them to suspend sales of trader pitches for the August Lichfield Food Festival until we have concluded our review.”
