FRESH plans have been drawn up to breathe new life into a Lichfield pub.
New owner Black Country Ales is proposing a new ground floor extension, full refurbishment and a change of an existing outbuilding to become the manager’s accommodation at the site on Upper St John Street.
Previously The Bittersuite, the pub will be rebranded to its previous name of The Bridge Tavern.
The latest application follows approval for an alternative scheme earlier this year which would have seen the outbuilding demolished and the upper floors used for accommodation purposes.
A planning statement said:
“The proposed development seeks to improve the existing public house by forming a new ground floor extension to the rear of the property. This will create a new enlarged cellar and improved customer areas.
“There is an existing outbuilding located in the middle of the existing site which will be refurbished throughout to create pub manager’s accommodation.
“A new garden area will be formed to provide external seating areas for customers which will include a covered timber smoking shelter.
“There will be a new entrance created to the side of the building to enable disabled customers to access the main pub and also the garden areas.
“The first floor is currently derelict and has not been used in many years. The proposal includes part renovation of the first floor for customer toilets and an office space.”
