PLANS for a new nursery and commercial units in Lichfield have been drawn up.
The development at Curborough Hall Farm will also see the creation of a new external sales area for a garden centre and conversion of an existing agricultural building.
It is being proposed as part of the site being used to build 750 new homes on Watery Lane.
A planning statement said:
“Curborough Hall Farm Countryside Centre was a fundamental component of the overall comprehensive development of the Curborough Lakes development.
“The current application represents the delivery mechanism of the integration of the established craft centre with the new local Centre and the Curborough Lakes development.
“A number of small-scale buildings are proposed to create a strong linear promenade route of arts and crafts workshops, a dance studio and small commercial uses, creating the east-west promenade and providing permeability to the entire site.
“The flexible uses will be located along the northern side of the promenade.”
Other potential uses outlined as part of the proposal are for a cafe, bakery, bookshop and vintage clothes store.
The statement added:
“In addition to the new buildings to create the boulevard and expanded facility, the proposal also provides for an expansion of the existing garden centres outside plant sales and storage area.
“The proposal also formalises the existing overflow parking arrangement as well as incorporating the first phase of Redrow Homes’ Curborough Lakes development show home area.
“This land lies to the west of the existing garden centre and forms a natural extension to the existing car park.
“The planning application will deliver a high quality, functional and attractive new development which would have the key role in integrating the established Curborough Hall Farm Countryside Centre facility with the wider Curborough community which is now being established to the east.”

Crazy another 750 houses !!! We know where it’s all heading…. Gridlock! If Lichfields roads aren’t bad enough but they simply don’t care they don’t live here to them it’s just money £££
Why dont some of these commercial ventures come to Lichfield city centre. Or do the rates rule out creative ventures and just throw up another coffee shop or Barbar shop.
For goodness sake withhold planning permission for the homes until the rest has been built.
It seems to me all these builders are happy to submit plans, then build & sell the homes before finally being bullied into completing the whole infrastructure as originally agreed.
Not just in Lichfield either.
The builders should be given massive penalties for not completing the whole scheme on time.
