THE chair of Burntwood Town Council says she hopes the community will continue to flourish in 2026.
Cllr Laura Ennis made her comments in a New Year message to local residents.
She said that there had been plenty of positives for the town last year – and hopes there will be more to come over the next 12 months.
She said:
“As we begin a new year, I hope that 2026 brings everyone great joy and happiness. I would also encourage everyone to take time for themselves this year – because if we don’t look after ourselves first, how can we help others?
“Looking back since May, it has been a real privilege to be involved in so many positive initiatives across Burntwood. Highlights for me include supporting the installation of a life-saving defibrillator on Oakdene Road gifted by the members of the University of the Third Age, as well as delivering selection boxes for children to our local charity, Spark. These moments truly reflect the strong sense of community spirit we have here in Burntwood.
“It was also fantastic to see Chase Terrace Community Centre officially opened this year. This wonderful new facility is now fully up and running and hosts a diverse range of brilliant community opportunities, from dog training, space for the local Brownies to meet, to children’s parties, and yoga sessions.
“My chosen charity is The British Wildlife Rescue Centre. So far we have raised over £1,250 which is fantastic. I cannot thank everyone who has donated enough for their generosity and support.
“Before the end of May, I will also be hosting a race and pudding night, so please do look out for more information.
“Thank you to everyone who works so hard in our community. Whatever part you play, please know that your efforts are truly appreciated and Burntwood would not be where it is without you.
“I look forward to seeing what this year has in store for Burntwood as a whole.”

“I will also be hosting a race and pudding night” is already my highlight of 2026. Happy new year one and all.
