# Skipper calls for Lichfield RUFC to have belief

Skipper Dave Bassett has warned Lichfield RUFC they must start to believe in themselves.

His comments came on the back of his side’s [defeat at Sutton Coldfield on Saturday](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2011/09/13/match-report-sutton-coldfield-rufc-41-lichfield-rufc-7/).

And although Bassett concedes that the pre-season title favourites lived up to their billing, he thinks Lichfield have what it takes to bridge the gap.

He said:

> “Sutton certainly look an imposing outfit and the team to beat. But as a team, we must believe in our ability. Only then will we start to match the top teams and compete consistently with the big boys.”

Lichfield return to action this Saturday (September 17) with a home clash against Walsall, kick-off 3pm.
