The launch of the Team Staffs t-shirts

A t-shirt printing business is celebrating after securing a large new contract – thanks to a £10 advert!

[Sabcat Printing](http://sabcat.com/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) picked up the work after their advert on The Lichfield Blog was spotted by designers working on behalf of the Student Union at [Staffordshire University](http://www.staffs.ac.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

[The Design Pit](http://www.designpit.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) have now agreed a deal with Sabcat to print 2,500 t-shirts featuring the Team Staffs logo.

The Team Staffs initiative is aimed at increasing participation in university sports amongst students at the university, particularly first year students

A Sabcat spokesman said:

> “We took the advert on The Lichfield Blog hoping to pick up local work and we never expected a job of this size from it. You just don’t know who lives around the corner!”

The deal came about after The Design Pit – run by Staffordshire graduate Gareth Robertson – was contacted by the Student Union to design the new shirts.

Gareth explained:

> “The Union wanted to create a brand that the students would buy into and planned to launch Team Staffs during Freshers’ Week in September 2010 with a ree hand out of Team Staffs-branded t-shirts.
>
> “I looked for local t-shirt printers in and around the Lichfield area and soon found Sabcat through an advert on The Lichfield Blog. After speaking to them, we all agreed that the project was a great opportunity to showcase our abilities and talents.”

And it seems the t-shirts have been a hit with students too.

Student Union activities officer and one of those behind the Team Staffs initiative, Adam Hedges, added:

> “Students were going crazy for them – the brand seems to be taking off big time, the university sports hall has a large Team Staffs banner hung up and flyers have been produced and handed out pushing the initiative.
>
> “The big thing for us at the Students Union is the University Vice Chancellor and Sports Management Board have all asked us for their own Team Staffs t-shirt! It really couldn’t have had a better impact in the first week of its launch.”
