ALREWAS wrapped up their season with a disappointing defeat at home to Denby.

The Herons opted to bat first after winning the toss, but suffered an early blow when Will Smedley returned to the pavilion after scoring just two.

Another quickly followed as Ben Foley was removed to leave the score on 14-2.

Freddie Clarke was next to go with the score on 34 – and only two more runs were added to the total as a Stephen Cole, Thomas Sherratt and William Hodgkinson all made the walk back to leave Alrewas on 35-6.

Paul Dawson aded 17 before he was bowled by Charlie Wilson, while opener James Burton finally saw his innings end after being trapped lbw on 30.

The final two wickets also went cheaply as the Herons saw their innings end with just 84 runs scored.

The reply saw Denby make 25 before the first wicket went when Hodgkinson caught Mitchell Bradley off the bowling of Faren Price.

But it was to be the only wicket to fall in the visitors’ innings as Freddie Gosnall and Alex Haleem saw them past the target with ease.
