# Appeal after armed robbers strike at post office in Fazeley

Armed robbers have escaped with only an empty cash box after a raid on a post office in Fazeley.

Three men wielding crowbars forced their way in to the building on Coleshill Street via a fire exit shortly before 7pm on Wednesday.

They damaged the glass counter area in an attempt to get cash.

Although the post office was closed a male member of staff was still working. Fortunately he was locked in the counter area and was not injured.

The gang stole a small cash box from the ATM, which was empty.

They fled the scene in a white Audi TT, with black wheels, which had reversed up the driveway next to the post office and was parked by the fire exit. A fourth person was in the driving seat.

The vehicle, believed to be stolen, turned left and then left onto Watling Street, heading towards Mile Oak.

Police say the three offenders are believed to be white.

Anyone with information on the robbery, or who saw suspicious persons/the white Audi TT in the area, is asked to contact DC Jon Cotter at Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 663 of February 5, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
