A Lichfield schoolgirl has gone missing.

Police have launched an appeal for any sightings of 15-year-old Amira Basharat who was last seen at King Edward VI School at around noon on Monday (March 24).

Insp Rob Neeson said: “We consider Amira to be vulnerable due to her young age and as time passes our concern for her safety is increasing.

“We are working closely with colleagues from West Midlands Police to locate her as we believe she caught a train from Lichfield to Birmingham at around 1.20pm on Monday. It is likely she is in the Birmingham area as this is where she originates from.

“Anyone who has seen her or has any information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 396 of March 24.”

Amira – who is from the Hoar Cross area – is Asian, 4ft 10ins tall and has very long straight black hair. She was wearing school uniform consisting of a white shirt, black blazer, black skirt, black tights and black shoes.
