A window was smashed and roofing lead taken, while a pool table and other damage was caused inside the building.

CCTV footage has now been released by the rugby club in a bid to ensure the culprits are caught.

In a post on social media, the club’s president, Paul Rogers, said the incident was “an insult” to the volunteers who give their time to the running of the club.

“I suppose it comes as no surprise what can happen these days,” he said. “But it’s heartbreaking and sickening that these mindless people don’t give a hoot about anything.

“At the end of the day it’s hard to survive running a club of this size. I am proud that it’s a community club offering services for many local kids, the elderly and everyone else we can help.

“But it is made so much harder for all our staff and volunteers when you have to suffer these sort of insults.

“Don’t worry though, Burntwood Rugby Club will come back stronger.”
