THE National Memorial Arboretum will provide the backdrop for a poignant episode of a popular BBC One television show.

Airing tomorrow (10th August) at 8.15pm, the VJ Day special version of Antiques Roadshow will see host Fiona Bruce take viewers back to 1945 to uncover the stories of those who served.

It will tell the tale of troops stationed in the Far East and the horrors endured by those interned in camps in Japan.

Alongside historical artefacts and the family stories behind them, you can expect to hear testimony from veterans, descendants, and other people who experienced the war first-hand.

The show will be broadcast just days before the channel also screens the National Commemorative Event at the arboretum on 15th August.
