# Average council tax bill for Lichfield and Burntwood residents likely to rise by more than £50

The average council tax bill in Lichfield and Burntwood is set to rise by more than £50.

A meeting of Lichfield District Council next week will discuss the figure, which would mean a Band D property would pay an average of £1,539 in 2016/17\. The figure last year was £1,487.67, equating to a rise of 3.45%.

Breakdown of the average Band D council tax bill:

- Lichfield District Council £5 increase (3.23%)
- Staffordshire County Council £41.37 increase (3.95%)
- Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner no change
- Fire and Rescue Authority rise of £1.37 (1.99%)
- Parish council average rise £3.59 (9.26%)

The figures mean a Band D property would pay an average of £51.33 a year more than last time around.

Of all the 25 parish areas covering the Lichfield district area, five have chosen to implement a precept increase of more than 10%:

- Burntwood (35.79%)
- Curborough, Elmhurst, Farewell and Chorley (13.28%)
- Hammerwich (10.16%)
- Longdon (42.45%)
- Wall (16.86%)

Meanwhile, five areas have opted to lower the money they take from the council tax bill:

- Clifton Campville with Thorpe Constantine (-1.93%)
- Harlaston (-0.17%)
- Hints and Canwell (-0.08%)
- Weeford (-1.66%)
- Wigginton and Hopwas (-0.56%)
