A parish council in Lichfield has been praised for its “social conscience and commitment to the environment”.

[Whittington and Fisherwick Parish Council](http://www.whittingtonandfisherwick.org.uk/Whittington/Welcome.html?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) was recently named authority of the week by the National Association of Local Councils (NALC).

The authority was praised for its active presence in the local community.

“It is clearly a council with a social conscience and a commitment to its people and environment,” a NALC spokesperson said.

“To ensure residents are involved in local developments, the council has produced a Parish Plan and is now in the process of creating a Neighbourhood Plan.

“It recently facilitated a meeting where residents could talk to the developers that have expressed an interest on working on local housing developments.”
