Balloons are released at Erasmus Darwin Academy

Hundreds of balloons have been released to mark the launch of a Burntwood school’s new name.

Chasetown Specialist Sports College will now be known as Erasmus Darwin Academy after gaining academy status.

As well as a new name, the school will also be introducing a new logo and uniform.

Principal Bernice Astling said:

> “We are very proud to become an Academy and we look forward to maximising the opportunities that this new status affords. I am very grateful for the considerable support given by staff, students, parents and Governors for this new development.

> “As an Academy, we will join the ranks of many of the highest performing schools in England. We will build on our success to become a centre of educational excellence. It is a very exciting time for the whole school community.”
