A James Gifford strike was enough to prevent Barton United continuing their unbeaten run.

The Midland Combination Division Two side were undone by high-flying Alcester Town in a 1-0 defeat.

The result leaves Barton in eighth place in the table, with 14 points from their opening eight games.

They face another tough test this Saturday (October 6) when they travel to another of the early season pacesetters, Barnt Green Spartak.
