# Biographer’s Lichfield Literature talk to lift the lid on the life of Galileo

The man who laid the foundation stone of modern physics is set to be explored in a Lichfield talk.

John Heilbron

Galileo biographer John Heilbron will be talking about the life of the man whose discoveries destroyed the medieval cosmos at The George Hotel on October 9 as part of the Lichfield Literature festival.

A spokesperson for the show said:

> “Heilbron transports us to the late Renaissance world of Florence, Padua, and Rome – vibrant with creativity and discovery, bristling with political and theological tension.

> “He shows how Galileo’s mastery of perspective enabled him to picture in three dimensions what others had difficulty seeing in two.”
