# Body found in woods near Lichfield confirmed as missing man

A body found in woods near Lichfield has been confirmed as that of a missing man.

Formal identification of 21-year-old Thomas Haddock, who went missing from his mother’s home in Kings Bromley on February 18, has now taken place.

Officers searching for Mr Haddock recovered a man’s body from a wooded area, known locally as Riles Spinney off Common Lane, near Fradley, on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Haddock’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner. A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow to establish a cause of death.

Inspector Jed White, commander of Lichfield District Local Policing Team (LPT), said: “This is a very sad conclusion to our investigation to find Thomas and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank all members of the affected community, and the general public, for their help, assistance and offers of support around the investigation over the past week.

“It is heart-warming to see so many people offering their support in such circumstances.

“I would also like to say thank you to the volunteers of Staffordshire, and Cheshire, Search and Rescue Teams, who have spent many hours working alongside Staffordshire Police personnel in the search for Thomas.”
