# Burntwood racing driver wins scholarship prize

A Burntwood racing driver’s season has been secured after he landed a prestigious scholarship.

James Tucker beat hundreds of other drivers, including former European and British Champions, to secure the inaugural Revolution Performance Motorsport (RPM) Scholarship for 2011.

The prize will provide the 21-year-old with a fully funded race car drive for the 2011 season.

Tucker said:

> “I’m looking forward to seizing this opportunity to advance my racing career and am pleased to be working with the RPM scholarship program for the 2011 season. The scheme is a great concept and was executed to the highest standard. In the current economic climate sponsorship can be hard to find, talent alone won’t cut it, so opportunities like this are great for supporting up and coming drivers.”

Tucker topped the time sheets in a rain affected first evaluation round in Prokarts at the Rednal Karting Centre in Shropshire. He followed up with solid results in the second evaluation round fitness test, competing against 18 other hopefuls in a 10km cross country run and various strength and ability tests.

The final eight contenders then moved on to the last round, held in DMAX 125cc Karts at Milton Keynes, where Tucker impressed with consistency and speed and was ultimately awarded the scholarship.

Pete Connors, co-founder of RPM said:

> “James drove extremely well during the evaluations, keeping a cool head and adapting to conditions perfectly. We are confident that he will be able to win the Championship this year and repay our belief in him.”
