Burntwood singer Mitchel Emms has battled his way through to the next stage of BBC talent show The Voice.

He squared off against West End performer Ricardo Afonso for a place on judge Danny O’Donoghue’s team.

But after a performance of Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet, the Burntwood star won through.

Speaking on [his Twitter account](https://twitter.com/Mitchelemms?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) after winning through, Mitchel thanked his his fans for their support.

“You guys have been awesome,” he said.
