# Burntwood St Matthews CC begin winter training sessions

Despite it not being typical cricket season Burntwood St Matthews Cricket Club have made arrangements for winter training sessions to take place, with current and new players welcome.

Under 9s are training at the Erasmus Darwin Training Academy, Chasetown, on Thursdays 6-7pm, with under 11s training taking place 5-6pm on Thursdays at the same venue.

Under 12s and the ladies team will be training at Friary Grange, Lichfield, on Thursdays 7-8pm, while yhe Under 15s will be at the Burntwood Leisure Centre on Sundays 8-9pm, and the senior team are training at the same venue on Sundays 9-10pm.

New players are welcome for all teams, and anyone interested in coming can attend a training session, or contact George on 07830299514.

The club would also like to announce that the installation of an artificial wicket has been completed and is ready to be used. Club Chairman, John Farmer, said: “The artificial wicket will be beneficial for the development of our junior players.

“We would like to thank the Lord’s Taverners and Lichfield District Council for funding the project.”

On February 4, Burntwood St Matthews CC will also be running a stand-up comedy night at the St Matthews Sports and Social Club in conjunction with halfadogcomedy.co.uk. Tickets cost £5 and are available in advance from the venue or you can pay on the door on the night.
