BURNTWOOD took the honours in a narrow away victory at second-placed Crewe and Nantwich.

Tom Shorrock, Josh Canning, Aidan Barker and Harry Heath were on the scoresheet as the visitors took a 29-27 win. They were aided by the boot of Kian Carter who bagged a penalty and three conversions – the last of which being the very last kick of the game to earn the win.

The game was played in front of England star Tom Curry who was a guest of the home side as a former Crewe and Nantwich player.

Elsewhere, the 2nds received a five point walkover when opponents Aldridge conceded due to lack of front row players.

Burntwood’s 3rds lost 27-0 away at Barton-under-Needwood 2nds.
