Carolyn Luffman waved goodbye to her pigtails as part of her bid to collect £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And the hair was donated to the [Little Princess Trust](http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk), a charity that make real hair wigs for children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Carolyn, a dispensing technician in Spire Little Aston Hospital’s pharmacy department, lost her locks in memory of her dad, Anthony Clewes, who died 10 years ago from cancer.

She even had her dad’s favourite record, Albatross by Fleetwood Mac, playing in the background as her hairdresser got to work with the shaver.

Afterwards Carolyn, who has already raised £700 to her £1,000 target, said she liked the new look and planned to keep her hair short in future to cut down on hairdressing costs.
