PROPOSALS to manage traffic and co-ordinate roadworks across Staffordshire have been agreed by Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet.

The Traffic and Network Management Plan explains how the authority will work to manage more than 4,000 miles of highway and keep vehicles moving.

The plans include close working with utility companies and neighbouring councils so that roadworks are “better planned, better co-ordinated and less disruptive”.

Cllr Peter Mason, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for strategic highways, said:

> “Keeping the county moving is vital for our residents, businesses and communities.
>
> “This plan sets out how we will manage and coordinate roadworks effectively, working closely with utility companies and neighbouring councils to reduce disruption wherever possible.”

The new strategy comes after the county council opted to pause non-essential repairs last year in a bid to minimise disruption – [a move that was branded “baffling”](https://mymidlands.co.uk/events/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) by the opposition Conservative group.
