# Call for inspirational tales of community spirit across Lichfield and Burntwood

A new project is hoping to find tales of community spirit from across Lichfield and Burntwood.

The Community Council of Staffordshire and Staffordshire County Council want to hear from communities who, in times of adversity, have banded together to help each other.

This could include making sure people are fed and warm during heavy snow or flooding, right down to the unsung heroes who have helped the more vulnerable members of their communities in any number of circumstances. The stories gathered – which could include anything from making sure people are safe during flooding or heavy snow, to celebrating the work of unsung heroes – will be featured on a website to be accessed by people across the county in the hope that they will inspire others.

County Councillor Pat Corfield, cabinet member for culture, communities and customers, said:

> “Community spirit in times of adversity is extremely important, and we want to use this project to highlight and celebrate what tremendous community spirit we have here in Staffordshire. The scope of this project covers the whole county, and we hope that people from every area will come forward with their stories. That way, we hope other communities will be inspired to help each other.”

Sara Green, community development officer from the Community Council of Staffordshire added:

> “This project is a fantastic opportunity for people to tell us about what they and their community have been up to. We want to use this project to highlight and celebrate what is already happening in Staffordshire and hopefully these stories will inspire other people or communities that are not as active.

> “We know already that Staffordshire is a great place to live with lots of friendly people and we hope that this project will really showcase this and let the rest of Staffordshire know what is going on in their county.”
