Burntwood Rugby Club’s first venture into the world of WI-style calendars proved to be very successful with the proceeds in aid of two cancer charities reaching £1,800.

Pauline Walker, with volunteers Pauline and Marie, from Burntwood Breast Care along with Alan Fowler from Prostate Cancer UK, attended the club last weekend to accept a cheque each for £900.

The idea for the calendar – as part of the club’s 40th anniversary celebrations – was put together by Joanne Gough, who not only organised sponsorship but also persuaded members of the club to disrobe while she took the photos. Meanwhile Mini/Youth Chair Julia Grundy helped organised the sales and admin.

Burntwood Breast Care has a Friendship Group which meets on every third Wednesday at Burntwood Library from 10am until 1pm.
