The event at the Waterfront Pub and Restaurant was organised by Angela and Gemma Russell with the help of friends and family to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The fayre was opened by the area’s MP, Michael Fabricant, who applauded the work of those involved.

“It is a real team effort,” Mr Fabricant said. “Sadly, they lost a close relative to cancer and it was during her care that they saw at first-hand the dedicated and specialist treatment that Macmillan nurses and doctors can provide.

“It is wonderful that they have organised this Fayre to give something back with the generosity of the owners of the Waterfront who have donated their facilities free of charge.

“This is a great example of giving.”
