# Celebrities help Lichfield golf club raise £11,000 for local charities

[Aston Wood Golf Club](http://www.astonwoodgolfclub.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) is celebrating raising money to help boost the [BBC WM Kidney Kids Appeal](http://www.bbc.co.uk/birmingham/local%5Fradio/bbcwm%5Fkidney%5Fkids%5Fappeal%5Findex.shtml?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk). The campaign is aiming to raise £1.5 million to pay for a brand new, state of the art kidney unit at [Birmingham Children’s Hospital](http://www.bch.org.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

The event at Aston Wood, near Shenstone, was attended by comedian Jasper Carrott, rock drummer Bev Bevan, comedian Sludge Lees, and former boxing champion Pat Cowdell.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital received £7,500 towards the new unit with the other £3,500 going to the Holly Trust, a bowel cancer charity and chosen charity of Aston Wood’s lady captain, Shirley Ward.
