Train passengers face an evening of frustration after all services on the cross city line were cancelled.

Services from Lichfield City and Lichfield Trent Valley towards Birmingham New Street were hit after overhead line problems near Aston this afternoon.

Passengers face no quick solution to the problem either, with London Midland predicting the issue may not be solved until the early hours of tomorrow morning (July 2).

A spokesperson for the train operator said: “Cross city line services between Birmingham and Lichfield will be suspended for the rest of the day.”

Passengers are being advised to use local buses to reach Sutton Coldfield where dedicated rail replacement buses are operating to Lichfield.
