Sara Armstrong tries the new menu at La Maison

A surprise raffle at a special wine and food tasting evening at Shenstone’s Fox and Hounds restaurant, La Maison, has raised more than £100 for St Giles Hospice.

The evening was to celebrate the launch of the restaurant’s spring menu. Chef Michael Faulkner presented bite-sized samples of several new dishes – including mini beef Wellingtons – to visitors.

People were also able to taste various new additions to the pub’s ever-increasing wine list.

Landlord Ken Gardner, who put a magnum of Champagne up as the raffle prize, said:

> “It was a great evening and gave us a great opportunity to show off the sort of food the restaurant can serve up. The charity raffle was just an idea I had when I saw so many people enjoying themselves – well they do say there’s no such thing as a free lunch!”
