A Chase Terrace man who didn’t clean up after his dog has been forced to pay £550.

Stuart Evans, of New Street, pleaded guilty to two offences at Stafford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (October 9).

The court heard how officers from Lichfield District Council saw the 63-year-old failing to remove his dog’s mess when walking his dog at Gentleshaw Common last March. He then failed to give his name and address when asked – an offence under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.

He was fined £230, ordered to pay court costs of £300 and a victim surcharge of £20.

Councillor Colin Greatorex, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for environmental health, said: “We know that keeping our streets and green spaces free of litter and dogs’ mess is extremely important to our residents and visitors.

“This is another case that should remind all dog walkers that failing to clean up after your dog is an offence, and one that we take very seriously.”
