CHASETOWN fell to a 2-1 defeat in their first home friendly of the season.

The Scholars survived an early scare when Bedworth United saw an effort rattle the crossbar in the opening exchanges.

The home side also tested the woodwork with an effort against the upright after ten minutes.

Curtis Pond was forced to keep out a header, but the Chasetown keeper could do nothing to prevent the opener midway through the first half.

But things were level soon afterwards when Jack Langston's strike found the top corner of the net.

Pond did well once more to come out on top in a one-on-one battle just before the break.

The second half saw both sides continue to measure each other up.

But it was Bedworth who found the crucial second goal 15 minutes from time with a close range finish.
