CHASETOWN manager Jamie Hawkins says he was pleased with his side’s reaction in their victory over Wythenshawe Town.

The Scholars came out on top in a 3-2 victory, but had fallen behind early on to a Wealth Da Silva strike.

Goals from Sam Wilding and George Cater turned the game around, only for Wythenshawe to level again with a quarter of an hour left to play.

But Jack Langston’s composed finish ensured the points returned home with The Scholars.

Boss Hawkins said:

> “The first goal was totally against the run of play, but I was really pleased with our reaction.

> “I thought we contained and controlled them in the first half, despite going behind. Credit to Wythenshawe, they made two changes at the break which gave us a different proposition to deal with.

> “They were much better in the second half and put us under a bit of pressure at times, but I still felt that we controlled large parts of the game.

> “It is nice to come away with all three points – we have performed well away from home against Avro, Congleton, and Clitheroe recently, so a win had been coming.”

The result sees Chasetown sit eighth in the table, seven points behind leaders Lower Breck.
