CHASETOWN exited the FA Trophy after coming out on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller at Loughborough Students.

The home side made the brighter start and took the lead after ten minutes when Marcus Gilpin's skill allowed him to carve out a chance to slot home the opener.

But the visitors levelled ten minutes later when a delivery into the box was nodded home by Matt Hearsey.

The see-saw first half continued with Loughborough going back in front on 25 minutes when Kash Kasukumya slotted home.

The students hit the crossbar as they looked to add a third goal – and they did make it 3-1 five minutes before the break when Tobenna Ikegwuonu fired past the Chasetown keeper.

Ikegwuonu almost killed the game off in stoppage time after he fired just wide following good work from Kasukumya.

An even second half saw both sides looking to score what would likely be a crucial goal. It eventually went the way of the students when Josh Roddy scored a fourth on 72 minutes.

Chasetown did pull one back in stoppage time as Hearsey turned provider with a cross for sub Kyle Moseley to turn home.

The visitors gave themselves a glimmer of hope as a second stoppage time goal from Moseley made it 4-3, but it proved to be too little too late for Carl Dickinson's men.
