Ben Jevons smashed a stunning hat-trick as the Chasetown FC Reserves hit Oadby Town Reserves for six at the Scholars Ground.

Mark Swann rallied his troops they responded positively to re-claim top spot from Quorn.

The hosts attacked immediately and Lee Stretton’s header from an Andre Gonzales corner was cleared off the line.

Nathaniel Jones was harassing the Oadby defence down the left flank and on 17 minutes produced an excellent pass to Max Black who fired just wide from 18 yards out.

The visitors mounted their first attack of the afternoon after 20 minutes when Michael Makoni narrowly missed the target following some fancy footwork. The same individual was unlucky to connect with a tricky cross from the left five minutes later.

Chasetown’s first goal came from a free kick. Gavin Saunders crashed his shot against the post and Lee Stretton slid in to drive the rebound home.

The Scholars didn’t look back after the opener and it was one way traffic for the remainder of the half. They doubled their lead just before the interval when Black engineered a pin-point pass to Jevons in the box, who was able to accelerate and finish comfortably.

After the break Chasetown were once again in full flow and the spirited Oadby resistance was starting to fade.

On 56 minutes Jevons grabbed his second. The impressive Craig Deakin ran the ball out of defence and found Saunders who shuffled and turned into space. Jevons ghosted on to Saunders’ through ball and smashed it beyond goalkeeper Ashley Payne.

Eight minutes later Black sent Chad Degville galloping down the right flank. Degville, fresh off the bench, expertly centered for Jevons to calmly side foot home, completing his hat trick.

Another Scholars substitute, Theo Robinson, was looking dangerous and chipped just over the bar five minutes after being introduced. He then produced a cross to Stretton’s head which forced a great save from Payne.

The Scholars refused to yield as the Poachers collapsed. Black looped another fine ball over the Oadby defence for Degville to race on to and curl a delightful chip into the top corner, leaving Payne stranded.

Following clever inter-play between Deakin and Degville, sub Justin Haughton put the icing on the cake with Chasetown’s sixth in the closing minutes.

**Chasetown**: Wiggins, Deakin, Rock, Stretton, Jones, Gonzales (Degville), Saunders, Black, Jevons, Aiton (Robinson) Gould (Haughton). Subs not used: Rock, Gould.
