The hosts had a chance inside the first five minutes when Scholars skipper Ryan Wynter missed the ball but Ryan Robbins fired straight at keeper Chris Fletcher.

Chasetown then had two good half chances. Jack Dundas was twice the provider, first for Liam Kirton and then for George Cater who both fired wide of the Dynamo keeper’s right hand post.

Just before the half hour, Loughborough thought they had taken the lead. A free kick from outside the box found the head of Luke Foster. That was blocked and it looked like it was 1-0, but Robbins’ close range effort was superbly tipped over by Fletcher.

Chasetown took the lead in the 36th minute. A through ball saw keeper Jason Alexander dash out and miss the ball, gifting an empty net to Brad Carr who rolled it in from 20 yards.

But the hosts levelled in first half stoppage time. Robbins raced onto a ball slid into the box and side footed past Fletcher.

Dynamo took the lead seven minutes into the second half. Left back Danny Gordon sprinted through the inside left channel and fired low past Fletcher.

The Scholars were a fingertip away from drawing level. Alex Melbourne’s left footer from outside the box was superbly tipped over by Alexander.

Dynamo extended their lead within a couple of minutes. The hosts broke quickly and Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson placed the ball beyond Fletcher.

In searing heat, Chasetown kept trying and a neat pass from Levi Reid set up substitute Jordon Dodd, but Alexander rushed out to thwart the striker.
