After the strong performance of last week this was a rather flat performance by Chasetown against their old adversaries Wryley.

These two teams have met so many times over the years that the players and patterns of play are well known to each other.

This match was played in a good spirit on a difficult, bone hard pitch and the score remained 0-0 at half-time, mainly through some excellent defending by Chasetown and brilliant, brave goalkeeping by Becky Troth. She made two or three crucial saves diving at Wyrley attacker’s feet in one-on-one situations.

Wryley opened the scoring straight from the kick-off as they flew down the wing, got to the by line and cut the ball back for a simple tap in.

The match remained tight almost throughout the second half and there was always the chance the Chasetown might score.

Five minutes before time Wyrley made the game safe when a ball was poorly cleared and a simple tap in resulted.

After losing captain Sarah Thompson through a head injury and going down to ten players it looked like Chasetown would be finished. However, right at the death a Jodie Kinsey corner was headed in by Jade Arber for a consolation goal.

The Chasetown defence had played exceptionally well throughout the match and Nicci Barter, playing at sweeper was voted player of the match.

**Chasetown**: Becky Troth, Simona Parker, Nicci Barter, Natascha Whitehouse, Charlotte Bull, Sarah Thompson, Stephanie Powell, Jodie Kinsey, Sinead Treanor, Stacey Roberts, Jade Arber. Subs: Dani Wright, Abi Picken.
