CHASETOWN let a lead slip as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Kidsgrove Athletic.

There was little between the two sides in an even opening, with the Scholars seeing their first chance of note coming in the 25th minute when Kevin Monteiro was sent through only to be denied by a good save.

The trick was repeated again just after the half-hour mark as Monteiro was again frustrated after getting on the end of Kyle Moseley's cross.

The breakthrough eventually came on 57 minutes when Jack Langston's powerful shot struck the post and Matt Hearsey was on hand to tuck home the rebound to put Chasetown in front.

But Kidsgrove levelled 15 minutes from time when Reiss Martin netted.

The Scholars were dealt a blow shortly afterwards when keeper Curtis Pond was forced off injured, leaving Langston to take up the gloves as an emergency stopper.

The stand-in number one could do nothing to prevent Kidsgrove stealing all three points on 83 minutes though as Matt Rhead's effort found the net.
