CHASETOWN picked up a point at Witton Albion on the opening day of the season.

The Scholars got off to a bright start and went close to an early goal when George Cater’s cross was tipped away by the fingertips of home keeper Cameron Terry.

Both sides struggled to carve out clear-cut chances in the opening 45 minutes.

Jack Langston tested Terry with a free-kick ten minutes into the second half, but Terry showed safe hands to collect it.

Mark Swann rang the changes for Chasetown with five subs as his side went in search of an elusive goal.

The best chance fell to Kieran Cook but he could only send the ball narrowly wide.
