A Lichfield coffee shop is offering people the chance to “pay it forward” and support those using a local food bank.

Melbourne, on Bird Street, says customers will be able to help those facing challenges caused by the cost of living crisis.

It comes as [Lichfield Foodbank revealed a huge increase in the number of people using its service](https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/2022/05/03/figures-reveal-increase-in-number-of-people-using-a-food-bank-in-lichfield) in the last year.

A spokesperson for Melbourne said:

> “Lots of our customers will ‘pay it forward’ and pay for the drink of the person behind them in the queue – starting this month, we’re going to be paying it forward with the Lichfield Foodbank.

> “People can buy one of our tokens or gift cards to be donated to the food bank to allow anyone going through a tough time to enjoy a treat with us.

> “And during May, we’ll match all cards or tokens donated by our customers.”
