Staffordshire’s Commissioner has urged people in Lichfield and Burntwood to “act responsibly” after new rules around social gatherings were introduced by the Government.

From Monday (14th September) groups of more than six people will not be allowed together.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the change in response to a rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Staffordshire Commissioner Matthew Ellis said people needed to play their part. 

> “The Government’s announcement last night underlines the seriousness of the situation we now find ourselves in, with the number of COVID-19 cases on the rise again.

> “Most people across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent are digging deep and following the guidelines to protect themselves and their communities, but it is vital that those who don’t think it matters realise it really, really does.
